What does "EMC" stand for?

EMC is an acronym consisting of the last names of the founders, Richard Egan and Roger Marino. The C stands for "computer." The multinational corporation was founded in 1979 and provides businesses with analytics, virtualization, data storage and information security.

EMC has evolved since its inception, and, as of 2014, allows businesses to offer information technology as a service to their clients. It incorporates cloud servers into its core suite, and it helps companies facilitate the transition away from hardware and to the cloud. It employs over 60,000 people worldwide, with 400 sales offices in 86 countries for the promotion of information infrastructure.
