The Turkish Prince Babar established the Mogul dynasty in India. In 1526, he led an army of 25,000 warriors into northern India, where he defeated the 100,000-man-strong opposition.
Babar died in 1530, but the Mogul dynasty persisted in India through the efforts of his descendants, who strengthened his policies. Babar established the Mogul kingdom through wars and acquisitions. Babar's son Humayun ruled the Mogul dynasty from the time of Babar's death until his own death in 1556. Humayun's son, Akbar, ruled from 1556 to 1605, at which time Akbar's son Jahangir took over. These successions transpired over 200 years, until the arrival of the British, who seized control and dissolved the Mogul empire.
