The molecular formula of ethyl cinnamate is C11H12O2. It has a molecular mass of 176.21 grams per mole. At room temperature, ethyl cinnamate is a colorless liquid with a sweet, honey-like smell. The melting point is very low at 6.5 to 8 degree C, while the boiling point is quite high at 271 degrees C. It does not react with oxidizing agents, acids, bases or reducing agents. This compound is combustible, and safety precautions are advised when handling it.
