What are some examples of foreshadowing in Frankenstein?

Some of the instances of foreshadowing in Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein†include the use of the words fate and omen multiple times during the story. Another example of foreshadowing is when the author refers to the character of Clerval in the past tense, which foreshadows his death.
The author uses foreshadowing throughout the novel, and this includes the metaphors and symbols that are used to predict Victor’s eventual death. Frankenstein does not actually kill Victor, but Shelley hints at it when she writes, “I was possessed by a kind of nightmare. I felt the fiend’s grasp in my neck and could not free myself from it.â€
