There are TUMS specifically for children that kids can take for heartburn, acid indigestion, sour stomach and stomach upset. The primary ingredient in TUMS Kids is 750 milligrams of calcium carbonate.

The dosage goes by the child's weight. Parents should consult a physician for the right dosage for children under two years old and kids under 24 pounds. Children with a history of kidney stones, kids taking an antibiotic and kids with a parathyroid disorder may not be able to take this medication. The common side effects of TUMS Kids include nausea or vomiting, reduced appetite, more frequent urination, constipation and dry mouth or thirst.
