How fast do hummingbirds fly?
By Forinfos - 29/05/2025 - 0 comments
Hummingbirds can fly at an average speed of roughly 25 to 30 miles per hour and can dive at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. These tiny birds can flap their wings approximately 70 times per second during normal flight and around 200 times per second when they are diving.
Hummingbirds migrate south for the winter and will go anywhere from the southernmost part of the United States to Panama, Mexico and even the Yucatan Peninsula. Contrary to popular belief, hummingbirds will migrate south even if feeders are left out late in the year, wait for at least two weeks after the last bird is seen before bringing in the feeders for the winter to feed any stragglers that may be passing by.
