Where do hummingbirds nest?

By Forinfos - 24/01/2026 - 0 comments

Hummingbirds nest in sheltered locations, where their offspring are protected from the wind and rain. Some common places for hummingbird nests are in forked tree branches or bushes. Around residential structures, hummingbirds may nest in the rafters of houses and barns, or around windows and door frames.

Hummingbird nests are small and often difficult to spot. Rarely more than 1 or 2 inches in diameter, or about the size of a golf ball, hummingbird nests take the shape of deep cups woven together from small twigs and blades of grass. Bits of moss or lichen are also added to help camouflage the nest.
