What are some features of annual ryegrass?
By Forinfos - 13/08/2025 - 0 comments
Annual ryegrass germinates quickly, and it is useful as temporary ground cover while seeding slow-growing grass. Due to the thick nature of annual ryegrass, it is commonly used as a forage plant for grazing animals during the winter.
Annual ryegrass can grow in wet soils with poor drainage. This type of ryegrass is tolerant to moderate acidity levels, but grows best between pH levels of 6.0 to 7.0. While fertilizers can be used, it is important that the soil acidity does not rise above these levels. It should be seeded between two and four weeks before the first frost date.
