Are there fees when you use a Visa gift card?

As of September 2015, the fees associated with using a Visa Gift Card include the $3.95 activation fee and the monthly maintenance fee. The monthly maintenance fee is waived for the first 12 months.

The Visa Gift Card is a prepaid card usable wherever Visa Debit is accepted. Cards are available at any Visa service center, branch location and online providers. Individuals can load between $20 and $500 on Visa Gift Cards. Cards purchased from in-store locations are activated immediately after the purchase. If a card is purchased online, then an individual must activate the card by calling the toll-free number on the card or using the Visa website.
