Who was the first woman to walk on the moon?

As of February 2015, no woman has walked on the moon. At present, 12 American men are the only humans to set foot on the moon.

From July 1969 to December 1972, the United States launched a total of seven missions that were intended to ferry astronauts to the moon. Of the seven missions, six succeeded. Only the mission known as Apollo 13 failed to reach the surface of the moon due to an oxygen tank explosion on the service module of the rocket. Although there is much speculation about when humanity may return to the moon, there are no firm dates or commitments.
