In order to be eligible for the Florida KidCare health insurance program, an applicant's income cannot exceed an annual household income of $23,340 before taxes for a household of one, as of 2015. For each additional person in the household, the threshold increases by $8,120.
In addition to meeting this income requirement, an applicant cannot have existing health care coverage and must be under the age of 19 or be the parent of a child under the age of 19. Additionally, the applicant must be a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien or permanent resident.
Under the Florida KidCare program, the covered individual's monthly premium depends on the household’s size and combined income. Typically, families pay between $15 and $20 per month.
