What is the Ford EcoBoost?

Ford EcoBoost is an engine that combines new technology for direct fuel injection and turbocharging to increase the fuel economy of the vehicle while maintaining the same engine power. Turbocharging is a process that forces more air and fuel into an engine than normal, providing the engine with additional power.

Direct fuel injection eliminates the need to send fuel through the intake tract. Cutting out the additional step for injecting fuel increases the efficiency of the process. When these two process improvements are combined, the vehicle manages a better fuel efficiency without losing any of the power provided from the engine.
