Where is the Fort Hood army base?

The Fort Hood Army base is located between Killeen and Copperas Cove in the hill and lake country area of Texas. The Army base is about 60 miles north of Austin, 150 miles north of San Antonio, 50 miles south of Waco and 160 miles south of Dallas.

The location of Fort Hood makes it accessible from either the Killeen/Fort Hood Regional Airport or the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. As the largest active military armored post, Fort Hood encompasses 340 square miles. The base offers housing, recreation, schools, shopping options and medical services. The hilly terrain and semiarid climate in this area allow for a variety of training tasks.
