Does frozen meat go bad?

Frozen meat does not go bad if the freezer is maintained consistently at 0 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. While the frozen food does not expire, the quality of the meat diminishes with time.
To maintain the quality of meat, the USDA recommends a maximum storage time of 12 months for roasts, steaks, chops, wild game and whole poultry. The recommended maximum storage for other types of meat is as follows: nine months for poultry parts, four months for ground meat and two months for ham, hotdogs and lunchmeats. These USDA recommendations are for uncooked meats only.
