Where is the gallbladder located in the body?
By Forinfos - 14/02/2025 - 0 comments
The gallbladder is a small pouch located under the liver on the right-hand side of the body. It sits just under the liver to store bile produced by the liver for digestion of fats.
After a meal, the gallbladder responds by squeezing stored bile into the small intestine through a series of bile ducts to help with fat digestion. This organ is non-essential for a healthy person and can be removed without affecting daily activities. Since digestion of fats is hindered by the lack of bile, diarrhea and the malabsorption of fats are a risk. Gallbladder removal is a common procedure after the presence of gallstones.
