In what states does E-ZPass operate?

As of 2015, the E-ZPass network covers 15 of the 18 eastern states that have electronic toll collection programs, including states as far south as North Carolina and as far west as Illinois. Tennessee, Kentucky, Connecticut and Vermont do not utilize the E-ZPass.

Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Rhode Island are the northernmost states that support E-ZPass, while Illinois, Indiana and Ohio comprise the western side of the network. E-ZPass also operates in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware, as well as West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. The southeastern states of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida use different electronic collection programs that do not recognize E-ZPass transponders.

Twenty-six toll agencies in the noted region accept E-ZPass. Because the toll is collected electronically, E-ZPass minimizes downtime and reduces congestion. Customers attach a small electronic unit to the inside of their windshield and then choose from a variety of payment options to fund their accounts. Drivers may apply for E-ZPass online or can visit a participating agency to submit an application. E-ZPass Plus provides a convenient payment method for parking, as well as tolls, and it is accepted at many airports within the network, the New York State Fair and several major parking garages.
