When is whale season in Maui?
By Forinfos - 06/02/2026 - 0 comments
Whale watching season in Maui typically begins around early November and continues until mid-May. The peak of the season typically occurs in February or March.
The reason whales appear in Maui during these times is because they are migrating away from the chilly ocean and storms in the North Pacific. Hawaii offers warm water for survival as well as breeding. There are many festivals celebrating the return of the whales each year, including the Welcome Home the Whales Celebration in November and the Maui Whale Festival during February and March. Typically, the best place to view the whales is from Maui's south and west shores.
