Where is George Washington buried?

George Washington is buried at a national monument known as The Tombs. The burial tomb is located at 3200 Mt. Vernon Memorial Highway, Mt. Vernon, VA 22121.

George Washington and his wife, Martha Washington, are both buried at The Tombs, which is located on the property on which they resided prior to his death in 1799. The original burial vault deteriorated, and Washington's body was moved to a new tomb in 1831. The burial spot and memorial is also the resting place for several family members of George Washington. The bodies are encased in wooden enclosures, and the cemetery is a tourist attraction, as of 2014.
