The Golden Buckeye program offers discount cards to Ohio residents age 60 and over and people between the ages of 18 and 59 who have disabilities as defined by the Social Security Administration. Approximately 20,000 businesses in Ohio accept the card.
Ohioans who hold current Ohio driver licenses or state ID cards receive discount cards when they turn 60. Program discounts vary from merchant to merchant. Some businesses offer a percentage off a total purchase, while others give special deals on particular products or services. As of 2015, cardholders have saved approximately $2 billion since the program's inception in 1976.
