What are the Golden Isles of Georgia?
By Forinfos - 13/08/2025 - 0 comments
The Golden Isles of Georgia are four barrier islands: Jekyll Island, St. Simons Island, Little St. Simons Island and Sea Island. Brunswick, Ga., nearby on the mainland, is often included as part of the Golden Isles.
The Golden Isles were so named because of the golden color their marshes turn during autumn, but they could just as easily have been named for the well-to-do residents and vacationers who frequent the resorts there. The comfortable climate, natural beauty, and historic and cultural attractions have drawn wealthy visitors since just after the Civil War. The four barrier islands are relatively remote and private with a laid-back, friendly atmosphere.
