A good price for an acre of land depends on where the land is located. The national average price of an acre in 2013 was $2,900, but prices were as high as $6,400 in the Cornbelt region, reports Agweb.com.

The average price per acre increased by 9.4% from 2012, says Agweb.com. The Northern Plains showed the largest percentage increase, at 23.1%, and the Southeast region the least with no change in average price.

Prices per acre also depend on what the land is used for. Acreage used as pasture fetches higher prices than land that is used to grow crops.
