Good treatments for verrucas include prescription-strength wart medication with salicyclic acid and cyrotherapy, according to Mayo Clinic. Verrucas, also known as plantar warts, usually goes away without any treatment, but this can take one to two years.
Salicyclic acid peels away at warts layer by layer and triggers an immune system response, explains Mayo Clinic. In cryotherapy, a doctor appllies liquid nitrogen to the wart, which causes a blister to form around it. The wart sloughs off the sole of the foot within a couple of weeks. Like salicyclic acid, cytotherapy also triggers an immune system response against the verrucas.
