Who is the governor of California?

As of October 2014, Jerry Brown is the governor of California. Brown was elected governor in 2010, marking the third time he had been elected to the office. He originally served as governor of California from 1975 until 1983. Brown began his most recent term on Jan. 3, 2011.

Governor Brown became the 39th governor of California when he took office in 2011. He is a member of the Democratic party and defeated Republican candidate Meg Whitman to win the 2010 election. Brown is up for re-election in 2014 and faces Republican candidate Neel Kashkari. The 2014 vote for California's governor is scheduled take place on Nov. 4, 2014.
