When is grape planting season?

Grape planting is generally done in very late winter or early spring. Specific planting time depends on the variety of grapes being planted and the region they are being grown in.
Grapes require a long growing season that is frost-free, and they should be planted as soon as possible after the threat of frost has passed. Hardier varieties of grapes are better at withstanding late frost and can be grown successfully in northern areas where spring comes later. In colder regions with late springs, it's advisable to grow a variety of grapes that requires a shorter season as the longer-growing varieties do not have time to ripen.
