Where do gray wolves generally live?

Most gray wolves live in Alaska, Canada and Asia, having been hunted to near extinction in the lower 48 states in America and in Europe. Gray wolves were completely wiped out in Colorado by the 1930s, although there is a gray wolf reserve in Colorado Springs, as of 2016.

Some people in Colorado want to reintroduce gray wolves into the wild, but opposition to the proposal stands in the way. Hunting gray wolves and destroying their natural habitats endangered the species that once lived all around the Northern Hemisphere and from the Arctic southern hemisphere to southern Mexico, northern Africa and southern Asia. Mexican habitats still support a few gray wolves.
