What is the growth percentile chart for babies?

Growth percentile charts for babies are a way to visualize how a child compares to other boys or girls of the same age, in terms of height and weight. The charts show the range of heights and weights for babies of all ages and shows the average for both.
By definition, most babies fall near the middle of the height and weight ranges, as these charts show averages. However, the charts are also useful for determining if a child is very much above or below the average for height or weight. By showing both of these statistics, it is possible to see if growth is proportional or not. Most charts focus on ages birth to two years, though charts are available for older children as well.
