What is the growth rate of a pinto bean?

By Forinfos - 07/11/2025 - 0 comments

A typical pinto bean goes from seed to harvest stage in approximately 90 days. The plant sprouts in approximately 8 days. After 30 days of growth, the pinto bean produces flowers.

Pinto beans grow best in well-drained soil with at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight a day. They are prone to attacks by aphids, whiteflies, thrips and bean leaf beetles. The application of an insecticidal soap spray eliminates these pests.

Pinto is the Spanish word for painted. The pinto bean has a mottled skin. As the bean is cooked, it changes to a uniform brown color. A staple in southern and southwestern diets, pinto beans belong to the Phaseolus vulgaris species.
