What is the habitat of a puffin?

The habitat of the puffin depends of which species is involved. The Atlantic puffin spends its summers along various coasts in the North Atlantic region and winters at sea. The tufted and horned puffins spend their summers on several coasts in the North Pacific region and also winter at sea.

The three species of puffins are all members of the Fratercula genus. All puffins have coloring which is predominantly black and white. The three species all possess large beaks and have a stocky physique. Their main prey is fish, which they often catch by diving under the surface of the ocean.
