How hard is it to install radiant floor heat?

Installing a radiant heat system that uses high-voltage cables requires an electrical background, while low-voltage mat systems do not involve much electrical knowledge. However, it may be necessary to check with an electrician before installing the mat system to make sure the home's electrical system can manage the new circuit.

To install the low-voltage mat system, the homeowner must first staple the mats to the sub floor. The two different colored wires are connected using a crimper after copper wire is placed inside. The homeowner repeats these steps for each mat being installed. Insulation is then placed between joists at the recommended distance from the mats.
