How do radiant heating systems heat floors?

By Forinfos - 03/03/2026 - 0 comments

Radiant floor heating systems involve the installation of water-heated tubes or electric heating coils beneath the floors of the home. This system allows the warming of everything that touches the floor, and heat also radiates upward. Temperature levels remain more constant than they do with a forced-air system.

Radiant floor heating systems can cut heating bills by up to 50 percent in comparison to furnaces. While this type of system is easiest to install in a new construction project, it is possible to retrofit an existing home with radiant floor heating. Some homeowners choose single-room installations in older homes, opting to add warmth to a bathroom or kitchen.
