Hydrogen peroxide is an over-the-counter product that can be used in removing earwax. It can be harmful to use if there is an ongoing ear infection or perforated eardrum. Hydrogen peroxide is not recommended for overly sensitive skin due to the irritation that can occur.

To remove earwax with hydrogen peroxide, begin by dropping a few drops of warm olive oil into the ear while tilted at an angle. The hydrogen peroxide is then added to the ear in a few drops. When the bubbling stops, drain the ear by tilting it and allowing the fluids to flow out. A bulb aspirator can be used to flush warm water into the ear to help remove impacted ear wax.
