What is a healthy HDL cholesterol level?
By Forinfos - 16/03/2025 - 0 comments
A healthy high-density lipoprotein, or HDL, cholesterol level is 60 milligrams per deciliter or higher, according to MedlinePlus. HDL cholesterol levels below 40 milligrams per deciliter increase a person's risk of developing coronary heart disease.
High-density lipoprotein is the good cholesterol that removes the bad cholesterol from the arteries and may increase protection from heart disease, explains MedlinePlus. Cutting down on saturated fats, losing weight and regularly exercising for about 30 minutes every day can help to increase HDL cholesterol levels. After the age of 20, a person should check his cholesterol level a minimum of once every five years.
