What is a healthy level of protein in urine?

Normal levels of protein in urine range from 0 to 20 milligram per deciliter, 0 to 6 milligrams per hour and 0 to 0.15 grams per 24 hours for the random, timed and 24-hour tests, respectively, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Higher values point toward either kidney damage or disease.
The urine protein test measures the amount of proteins such as albumin in the urine, explains the Cleveland Clinic. Doctors use the protein test to check kidney function and screen for kidney disease. In addition to kidney disorders, conditions such as diabetes and hypertension also result in abnormally high protein levels with the test.
