What is Helen Keller most famous for?

Helen Keller is famous for the many achievements she accomplished, despite being blind and deaf from a very young age. These achievements include graduating college, founding the ACLU and becoming one of the 20th century's greatest humanitarians.

Helen Keller was born on June 27, 1880. In 1882, she suffered an illness that caused her to become blind and deaf. She learned to communicate with the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan, and eventually graduated from college despite her disadvantages. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964 and has received honorary degrees from many colleges and universities for her lifetime of charity work.
