Henry Hudson was a renowned English navigator and explorer who is best known for discovering the body of water named after him: Hudson's Bay. His life's goal was to discover a route from Europe to Asia on sea, which he attempted to do on three separate occasions and failed.
During his third voyage, of which he discovered the Hudson passage, Henry Hudson's boat became trapped in ice during the winter. In the following spring, the ice melted and the boat was freed. Hudson, along with several crew members and his son, refused to go back to England and give up, causing the rest of his crew to mutiny and leave the small group behind.
