Pikes Peak of the Rocky Mountains has a maximum elevation of 14,115 feet. The mountain is one of 53 in the state of Colorado that rise at least 14,000 feet above sea level.

The mountain is named after explorer Zebulon Pike, the American credited with discovering it during his "Pike Expedition" in 1806. Pikes Peak is the most-visited mountain summit in North America, with more than one-half million people reaching the top each year. Visible for hundreds of miles, Pikes Peak overlooks Colorado Springs, Fort Carson and the U.S. Air Force Academy. The mountain is home to the Glen Cove Inn and several hiking trails.
