A toilet grab bar should be mounted 33 to 36 inches above the floor. The Americans With Disabilities Act requires one to the rear of the toilet and one on the wall closest to the toilet in buildings and facilities.
A grab bar is a metal bar attached to the wall adjacent to a toilet. It provides support for disabled persons who need help lowering themselves onto and raising themselves off of the toilet. Side wall grab bars must be at least 42 inches long, while rear wall grab bars must be at least 36 inches long. Grab bars may be attached by either adhesive, nail or screw.
