Followers of the Hindu religion can conduct worship in three different locations, which are temples, outdoor public spaces and the home. Worship at the temple is ritually performed four times throughout the day by priests. Temple worship is performed at sunrise, sunset, midnight and noon.

For ordinary worshippers of the Hindu religion, regular temple visits are not mandatory. A majority of Hindus choose to worship at home, as the aspect of the Hindu worship ritual places emphasis on an individual's offering rather than congregational worship. Worship in the Hindu religion includes a wide range of activities, including dance and drama.
