Whom do the Jewish people worship?

The Jewish people worship YHWH, the sacred name of God as revealed to the prophet Moses in the Torah. It is a combination of the past, present and future tense of the word "howa," which means "to be." The proper pronunciation, as agreed by most scholars, is "Yahweh."

The Jews believe in an omnipotent God, who is absolute, indivisible and incomparable. This belief makes the Jews distinct from other ancient Semites and has become Judaism's legacy to the Western world.

In Judaism, the God of Israel is also the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Their God was the one who delivered Israel from the tyranny of Egypt and bequeathed to them the 613 Mitzvot at Mount Sinai.
