Is President Obama a Christian or a Muslim?

Barack Obama is a self-proclaimed Christian. In a 2010 interview, Obama stated that he came to the Christian faith later in life and that he practices his faith daily through prayer and public service.

Suspicion surrounding Obama's religion arose for several reasons. Barack Obama is the son of a Kenyan Muslim, and he spent part of his childhood in the predominantly Muslim country of Indonesia with his mother and Indonesian step-father. His full name, Barack Hussein Obama, sounds Muslim to some.

Obama and his daughters were baptized at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. He and his family have worshipped at several churches in Washington, D.C.
