There are 12 signs, or houses of the zodiac, that follow the ecliptic, or the path the sun takes as it travels across the sky. The signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. The exact dates when the sun is in one house or another differ depending on which type of zodiac is used. For example, if the reader is relying on the tropical zodiac and her birthday is May 5, her horoscope sign is Taurus.
