The hours for the IRS telephone assistance service vary, depending on the caller and calling purpose. For individuals and businesses, including those with hearing disabilities, the line is available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time Monday to Friday as of June 2015, according to IRS.gov.
Assistance over the phone is provided to exempt organizations, retirement plan administrators and government entities between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to IRS.gov. Regular 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. hours apply for individuals calling the dedicated line for reporting possible identity thefts. International service is available from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
