When does hurricane season start in Mexico?

On the Pacific coast of Mexico, hurricane season begins May 15. Along Mexico's Atlantic coastline, hurricane season begins on June 1. On both coasts, the official hurricane season ends on November 30.

Hurricanes can occur outside of the official season dates, beginning as early as May or as late as December. On the Atlantic side, hurricane season escalates from mid-August to October, experiencing the highest number of storms in mid-September. The Atlantic Ocean is unlikely to develop strong storms after the end of October. Hurricanes that occur near Mexico are most likely to hit the Yucatan Peninsula or Baja California.
