When is hurricane season in Mexico?

On the Atlantic Ocean side of Mexico, hurricane season lasts from June 1 to Nov. 30. The official hurricane season on the Pacific Ocean side of Mexico begins on May 15 and also ends on Nov. 30.

Although hurricane season in the Atlantic basin begins in June, hurricanes are most likely to form from mid August through October, with the peak season during mid September. Strong hurricanes are unlikely to occur in November. While hurricanes can form outside of the official season boundary dates, beginning as early as May or as late as December, 99 percent of hurricanes occur during the official season.
