International finance, also known as international macroeconomics, refers to a branch of financial economics that deals with monetary systems and economics that surpass national borders. This field focuses on global capital markets through monitoring and examining trade practices across borders, global investment flows and movements in foreign exchange rates.

Different aspects of international finance are regulated by various global bodies. These global institutions include the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, World Trade Organization and the International Monetary Fund. Among these organizations, the World Bank is in charge of funding development projects that do not receive sponsorship from private investors, while the IMF monitors financial transactions between its member countries.
