Who invented the modern computer and when?

The Z3 was the first modern computer and was developed by an inventor named Konrad Zuse in 1940. According to the Computer History Museum, Zuse's computer was the first fully operational stored-program electromechanical computer ever created.

Computational devices and early analytical engines had been conceptualized as early as the 19th century. With its ability to store programs electronically, the Z3 was the first computer of the modern era. It made use of binary code and Boolean logic. Development of the Z3 began in 1939, and the computer itself was ultimately destroyed in an Allied bombing attack upon Berlin that took place some six years later.
