Who invented yoga pants?

It is generally considered that Ryan McLatchy created yoga pants. These pants evolved from loose-fitting, flowing clothing to the tight, stretch fit commonly found in yoga studios all over the world.

Large clothing companies have all taken to the yoga pants craze including Lululemon, Adidas, Gap and Nike. Yoga pants have led the "athleisure" style trend. Their popularity has increased over the years while other pant-wear popularity has seen decreased sales. As of 2014, jean sales in the United States fell 6 percent while sales of yoga pants rose 7 percent. However, participation in yoga only rose 4.5 percent over the past year, showing this trend is based more on style.
