What is a kenyi cichlid?

The kenyi cichlid is a medium-sized member of the Cichlidae family native to the rocky shores of Africa's Lake Malawi. Females of the species are blue with black vertical bars, while males gradually turn yellow as they mature.

The kenyi cichlid is a popular aquarium fish. Those kept in captivity require a tank of at least 50 gallons, with plenty of rocks providing suitable hiding places. Vegetable-based flakes and other foods suitable for African cichlids is recommended. Kenyi cichlids housed in aquariums will reach about 6 inches under ideal conditions, and due to their aggressive nature, they should not be housed with significantly smaller specimens.
