According to the Boston Globe, Curt Shilling was diagnosed and treated for mouth cancer. Shilling was a former Red Sox pitcher and has stated that he believes his cancer was caused by chewing tobacco throughout his baseball career.
Curt Shilling first announced his cancer diagnosis in February of 2014. After announcing his diagnosis, he stepped away from his job as an ESPN baseball analyst to focus on his health and his treatments. In June of 2014, he announced that his cancer had gone into remission. The Boston Globe states that since his remission announcement, Shilling has urged people to seek help immediately if they feel that they have a medical issue.
