What kind of cancer does Jim Kelly have?

As of December 2014, Jim Kelly is free of cancer. The Hall of Fame quarterback was first diagnosed with upper jaw-bone cancer resulting from squamous cell carcinoma in 2013.

After undergoing surgery in June 2013 to remove part of his jawbone, Kelly was cancer-free. However, in March 2014, doctors announced that the cancer had returned. Following additional treatment, biopsies came back negative in September 2014.

Kelly played 11 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, leading the team to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 to 1993. As of 2014, Kelly remains in western New York where he spends much of his time devoted to his charity, Kelly for Kids.
